It's Over

The detective at the local police department who has been handling my case called today, two weeks after, you know, the incident. He called "the man" and asked him about the evening in question and, of course, the spineless piece of crap denied even being at the local movie theater that night or spitting in my face. In fact, he commented to the detective that I should be arrested for having the gall to do what I did.

Yeah.

I cried a lot this afternoon after his phone call. The nice detective said he could get the douche bag's picture and place it, along with pictures of several others, in a photo line-up and begin the process of a misdemeanor trial, but it would ultimately be his word against mine. And let's face it, a jury would have to let him off because of the lack of evidence. And deep down, I'm fearful of facing this idiot. What could he do to my family? My children? I'm scared. And so upset with myself for being scared and for telling the detective to forget it. It's not worth it. What's the point, right?

Right.

Until he does this or worse to another woman or person. I keep repeating to myself, "Don't research his license plate number on-line. Don't research his license plate number on-line. If you confront him, it won't do any good, it won't change his attitude. It will only make things worse. He'll hurt you. He'll hurt your family. Don't research his license plate number on-line. Don't be the woman on whom he snaps."

I ended up unloading onto poor Detective Bishop (I really wanted to ask him if he was an android) and asking him, "Was the asshole at least scared when you called him?" The kind, understanding detective admitted that the asshat was fairly uncomfortable during their phone conversation.

At least I have that.

Sweetie, this is one you're definitely going to have to let go. Like you said, you don't want to be the woman on whom he snaps. That would just be tragic!

Breathe....

Peace - D

I bet the guy sh*t his pants when the cop called!! He didn't "win" as long as you don't let this change who you are. Yes it was a bit impulsive and risky, but big hugs for you for trying to correct an injustice. Now it's time to put it behind you and get back to the kid-wrangling, blogging, ghost-hunting, snorting with friends, ....

It's hard when things don't pan out the way you hoped, especially when that's the more justice-d way.
I'm with you on the fear of what he could do to your family - not just him personally, but through you if you got too wrapped up in this.
It sounds like the guy admitted through character (flimsy in court, I know) that he knew what he'd done ... I hope that gives you some closure.

You could, however, send him a bag of dog crap.

If you did have said tag number and did run it and did come upon said asshat's address it would be humorous for him to suddenly receive a year's worth of avitable postcards and self-subscribe junkmail. And you know....I'm just suggesting....maybe your friends in other parts of the nation could help you out with this if said address were posted for anyone's view.

I'm just saying.

My daughter works at a dental office. She had a patient that wasn't happy that he couldn't see the doctor because he showed up almost an hour late. He took it out on her by spitting on her car (windshield, door handles) for a few weeks. She never caught him, but knew.

Anyhoo, she retaliated by filling out subscription cards for several magazines, gay magazines, using his address that was on file.

There are some battles that you just have to let go...
but that doesn't belittle the seriousness of what happened, nor does that make him the winner or the better person.

That is why I believe in karma over our legal system. He'll get his.

You need to work through your feelings about this so that you move on.

I am with Adam - let's send him dog poop.

Sugar--you just have to let this go. Let karma take care of him.

You really do have to let this go. As much as I hate for you to give up, you must for your own sanity.
I'm not going to get preachy on you, but just hand it over to the Lord. His shoulders are bigger and he can carry it. You have to be a mommy to three little ones and that's hard work, so let the Lord take care of it and you.
Just say outloud, "Lord, I'm not able to deal with this hurt anymore, so I'm giving it to you, and I know you will take care of me and my family." And then put it out of your head. If you have to pack up the kids and take them for a walk, or ice cream, or anything, just the act of corralling all of them into the vehicle and going somewhere should give you something else to think about.
Honey, you have my number if you need to talk or just have someone listen. (((HUGS)))

He is going to carry that phone conversation with the cops in his head for a LONG time. If nothing else, he will think twice before he acts impulsively. At least that is what I choose to believe.

Avitable - Could it be a flaming bag of dog crap? Please?

Cricky - HA! Oh, honey don't tempt me! Get thee back! Love you!

Employee No. 3699 - HA! That's just so tempting. You and Cricky should get together.

MommyCosm - I believe in karma, too, and feel like he'll get his.

Britt - Flaming dog poop.

Turnbaby - I know.

Other Heather - Chocolate ice cream? That cures all ills. And thanks for your number. I promise not to call you at 3AM. :)

NATUI - I hope, hon.

Gypsy - I hope it does make him think twice that the person he's accosting/assaulting could have balls as well and call and get him in trouble.
