Halloween in August

I love Dragon Con. It's the one time of the year when the nerdiest and geekiest of adults in the southeast, lovers of all things sci-fi, fantasy, comics, and animé can get together in leather corsets, costumes of all shapes and sizes, and Dune-inspired t-shirts that extol the benefits of caffeine.*

I spent Sunday afternoon at the Con, helping to man our local ghost hunting group fan table. Wow! We have so many fans! So many fans that... I nearly fell asleep a few times. Our group is based in Roswell, Georgia. The most prevalent question asked? Wow! There's a Roswell in Georgia? Do you guys have aliens like the Roswell in New Mexico? Um, that's a no.

So, in between those "high" points of the day, I frolicked with some costumed lovelies and a couple other ghost hunters you may have heard of:

The sweetest little pirate at the Con who, when asked if I could get my picture with her said, "SURE!"

Sweeney Todd! Sweeney Todd! *Swoon!*

Ripley had it all wrong. Those aliens? Just big, cuddly babies. Sweaty, too. Ish.

Oh, baby. I lurv me some Hellboy!

The best looking Wonder Woman of the whole superhero bunch!

Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!

Oh, and did I mention a couple of random ghost hunters? You may have heard of them...

Some dude named Tango.

And that other guy. Whatshisname.... oh, Gill? Garp?

Oh, yeah! GRANT WILSON! WOO HOO!

After that high point, I died happy.

Fin. **

*Yes, I purchased one of said t-shirts. So I'm a big Frank Herbert geek. Bite me.

** Fin. As in French for "The End." You know how those classy, old black and white movies would have "Fin" at the end of the movie instead of "The End," which would make the statement, "Oh, yeah! We're so much better than your basic, average 'Boo hoo! Poor me! It's the Depression!' movie!" So, what I'm saying is that this is a classy blog! Much better than your average "I'm a mommy and I never get out of the house so I bitch, whine, and moan on the Internet!" blogger. Wait, did I just call myself a mommy blogger? Shit. Never mind.

I'm glad you're feeling better, out of the house, and having fun!

Have you ever read the Frank Herbert book "The White Plague"? It's my favorite of his books, because it's about bio-terrorism from a grieving parent. Check it out.

Peace - D

Looks like great fun. I do so miss Atlanta, so much to do, the snarls of traffic, the hustle, the bustle, the rage!!! **

**I think I'll stay in NC :-)

Other Heather - Sorry, hon! Wish you could have been with me!

Bucky - Don't egg her on!

River Poet - Oh, so feeling better! I have read The White Plague and it is good. And? I think I had that disease last week. :)

MommyCosm - Aw, yeah!

Cricky - Oh, he is hawt. Too bad his wife was there. ;)

Willie G - Stay there, hon. It's not worth it coming back to the traffic!

Miss Britt - I was! I was wearing my ghost hunter shirt. I just blacked out the logo for the post. Can't man our fan table in a Stormtrooper costume, unfortunately.

Employee No. 3699 - Nope. Ty was home with the kids! :) My fellow ghost hunters took the pictures!

Penny - Wish you could have been there!

Gypsy - I know. I love you, too.

Avitable - Yeah! And no on the sitter. Not gonna happen. And I'm rather pissed, but what's a girl gonna do?

Molly's Mom - Sending you imprint now. :)

Oh, I'm always a day late and a dollar short to all the good blog posts. Did you know I grew up in Roswell, GA? My h.s. is no longer in existence. They replaced it with a middle school. Glad you had fun in my hometown.

Toasty - You're never late to a good post. :) And that's awesome that you grew up in Roswell! You need to come over for a visit and go on the ghost tour!

That Chick Over There - She is. I'd do her.
