Fatigue

I don't know what the hell is going on with the kids. Whether Ty-man and I get to bed at a reasonable hour or at a stupid hour, all three kids have decided to wake up at all hours of the night. Why? I don't frakking know.

Personally? I think it's a conspiracy. I think when I'm in the kitchen or upstairs doing laundry, all three kids are downstairs doing complex calculus, solving world conflict, and contemplating who will start screaming bloody murder at what time. They know to wail until attended by either me or Ty-man, to then go back to sleep peaceably when placed in bed, and are confident enough in their schemes to know that after 45 minutes, Ty-man and I will have juuuust fallen back asleep and that it's time for the next kid to begin freaking out. They've got it down to a science. Why do they do this? I suppose because it's a lark.

And lo, so it goes until the ass crack of dawn when Ty-man and I stumble downstairs to begin the process of the next day, unprepared for eight to ten solid hours of whining that are to inevitably follow.

What I'm trying to tell you is that this post is about nothing because my brain has officially shut down. Now that the loud Hard Rock music has faded away, all I hear is...

NO! I DON'T WANNA GO POTTY!
NO! I DON'T WANNA WATCH LIL' BEAR!
NO! I DON'T WANNA EAT GRILLED CHEESE!
NO! I DON'T WANNA (insert action here and repeat 50 times)!
WAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

Someday, I'll look back and smile. Someday. Right now? I'm scowling.

I apologize for there being nothing special here. I hope that tomorrow I'll have something better. Something that isn't whiny. Something inspired.

Something.

Look for a CD by Dr. Jeffery Thompson called Delta Sleep Solution. It is safe for the elderly, pregnant women, and even children. It is AMAZING!!
It plays these tones with ocean wave, and rain drops that helps to guide the brain into the deep sleep stage.
I have a head injury that keeps me from doing that, so I have been using it and it works.
He also does a classical music CD's with the tones as well, that you could play for them at bedtime. But google his name, Barnes & Noble has the CD as does Amazon and the Relaxation Company. It's strange but it works!
Good Luck! It is so hard to try to cope with little ones when your brain won't work, believe me I've been there.

Hang in there, sweetie. This too shall pass. It really will, hard as that is to believe at 3 a.m.

God that sleeplessness sucks. We're just a couple of months into Z sleeping through the night. That noise you hear is me knocking on wood. I dread the next restless phase.

Um, yeah ... I'd say it's because of the full moon, but that's already passed so ...

My husband always says the kids are the only ones that get any amount of good sleep, while we trudge along, blood-shot-eyed, falling asleep while driving to work or when co-workers are talking to us.

My son? doesn't take naps anymore, which means napping while my kids do isn't happening. What's better? if I try to while Banana is sleeping, he screams in my face to wake me up.
Apparently, I'm not allowed to sleep. GAHR!

Get some sleep whle you can
... or drink some alcohol.

I'm joking. You knew I was joking ... sorta ...right? sorta?

I feel your pain and I only have two monkeys to deal with.

My kids go to sleep OK, it's the staying asleep part that we struggle with. BamBam yells until someone comes in to be with him and Princess sneaks into our bed. SO, we put full sized beds in each of their rooms and simply play musical beds all night. If we have to, we'll climb in and sleep with one of them. Not the best solution, but it's what is buying us the most sleep.

Now that my husband is home looking for a job and I'm working more, we decided to alternate nights being "on call". At least one of us gets a decent night sleep every other night.

Put a fan in your room on high. It really blocks out the noise enough so you can go back to sleep. ;)

I used to have trouble slipping back into sleep--it almost never happens now ;-)

A fan really helps.

I agree with mommycosm, take turns being on call. My daughter and her husband did that and it helped. At least you're getting a decent night's rest every other night as opposed to not at all.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel...until they're teens and you're waiting up for them to come home at night.

I'm with ya girlfriend. And I love that one of your categories is, simply, "wtf." Because, really, what more need be said.

Now, where's my box o' wine?

Isn't it lovely when your non-infants decide to become infants again? I have no problem getting up with her if she's genuinely sick or scared, but it gets waaaay too much when it's night after night. And you poor guys have it times three!

Sending sympathy, for all the good it does.

Other Heather - Oooohhh! I'm so going to check that out. For all of us. Thanks!

RiverPoet - Lord, I hope so!

A Free Man - Oh, and to have them sleep through the night, and then stop? Agony.

Donna - Alcohol. Hmmmm. Totally an option!

MommyCosm - Glad you're alternating nights! I'm seriously thinking of doing that with Ty-man if this doesn't let up soon.

NATUI - My roomie in college did that and, I have to admit, we did sleep well!

Turnbaby - OK, two of you have suggested the fan. Thinking that's a good idea!

Employee #3699 - I think we'll definitely have to do that! And? Don't remind me that the teen years are forthcoming. ARGH!

Soup Is Not a Finger Food - Oh, sweetie. My whole life is WTF?!?

Molly's Mom - Yeah. When they're just crying to cry? Drives me nuts. Thanks for the sweet thoughts!
