Dialog, Part 30

Kroger Cashier: Blue and orange nail polish? Wow, you're into the weird colors, aren't you?

Me: It's not for me, it's for my kids.

KC: Gives me the stink-eye.

Me: My sons.

KC: Gives me the stink-eye with raised eyebrows.

Me: They're four and three.

KC: Oh, well, then it's OK.

Me: Yeah, they saw their sister getting hot pink toes and they wanted hot pink toes and their father said Over my dead body! and I said Well, what about blue? and the youngest chanted Blue! Blue! and his older brother said I want orangschsssse!

You know, I paint my brother's toenails.

Oh, what? Is he like, five?

Nope. He's 23.

Well, OK. I don't feel so weird then.

Lady, you're buying "Candy Corn" and "Blue Streak" nail polish, for your toddler sons, at a Kroger, at 11:30 PM.

Yeah, there is that.

I. love. this. Luke has always begged to have his toenails painted. What's it going to hurt? But, I have to admit, I like the blue and orange idea.

This reminded me of the time my daughter painted my husband's toenails bright pink. He forgot and wore his birks to work one day the next week. Got a LOT of strange looks, lol.

Oh how I love those kids...spunky pedicures in Gator colors!!! :-)

Do you think the boys would mind if I borrow their nail polish? Is Ty shaking his head that those words are being uttered?

I love it when the cashiers make you garner their approval instead of just ringing up your order.

What a judgey cashier! Yeesh!
Plus, her brother = what, does he weigh 1,000 lbs? He can't paint his own toenails? Totally worse.

And for more win, you'll be able to use this against them when they get older!!!

I've always thought the oranges and blues were for little boys. I can't envision adult women sporting such colors. But, then again, I'm clearly an old fart.

Next they'll be auditioning for the school play, La Cage Aux Folles:)

Maybe she should quit being such a hater.

You know, I'm sure the Kroger where you live is full of nice people who are clean and made it past highschool.
Where I stay at, I'm worried if I don't see multi-colored nails on the help. Of course, we do refer to it as "'Hood Kroger" (which is better than "Murder Kroger" on Ponce or "Drive By Kroger" at Edgewood).

Annie - Go for it! It won't hurt a thing. :)

MommyCosm - Oh, that is simply awesome!

Grant - They should all be fired! Or given raises.

Geekgrl64 - :)

Joe - Oh, definitely!

MrsRobbieD - Yeah, that's going to be pretty awesome! The boys already ask me for lipstick when I put it on. I give them Chapstick instead.

Patois - My mom also bought them yellow. The brighter the better!

Marty - Giving Robin Williams and Nathan Lane a run for their money!

Muskrat - Murder Kroger? Oh, this I gotta see!

I don't see the harm in it, at all. I don't like gender labels and lines. Then again, I also believe that people are born gay and that playing with your sister's dolls as a boy isn't going to make you gay. They're just toys, and the same goes for makeup and jewelry.
