Bustin' Up the Old, Lovin' the New!

Remember way back when? When I realized I had reached mother/wife status by asking for major appliances for Christmas? Major appliances being a washer and a dryer?

Oh, yeah. I remember it, too. Not only did my piece of crap washer get off-balance simply because the day ended in a y (Hmm, I seem to do that myself.), but the lid was broken and the washer would shut off completely if the lid was jarred in just the slightest manner. And? The bottom of the washer was open, exposing the guts (read: motor) to the floor below. Can we say a 1/2-inch layer of grease on my laundry room floor? Yeah. Hate is actually too nice a word to describe the emotions I felt for this washer. A seething, roiling, revulsion with a need for utter and total destruction of the washing machine itself. And while watching its demise, I laugh gleefully as it cries out in pain and agony.

Yep. That sums it up.

So, this past Saturday, in came two lovely men from Lowe's who were kind enough to deliver and hook up my brand-spankin' new Samsung washer and dryer! Woo-friggin'-hoo, baby! I called my mom and girlfriends to brag, read the manual (yes, had to read a damned manual), and washed three loads today! Every stitch of the kids' clothes are clean! I even organized the laundry room! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you sweet, wonderful, darlin', handsome, heroic, geeky, studly Ty-man!

In honor of the departing piece of crap, I decided to take some pot shots at it with a sledge hammer. Ever seen the movie Office Space? If so, this video clip will make complete sense (seriously - this song was in the movie - honest!). If not, you should enjoy it anyway. By the way? The audio isn't safe for work. So, if you're at work (Mom... TERI!), turn down the volume, put in the ear buds, or wait 'til you get home!

From me to you, enjoy!

Oh, and? Here's me with my new babies. I LURV them!

NATUI - Yeah, the noise from banging the washer with a sledge hammer was so loud, I thought the neighbors would call the cops! So, I wimped out.

Fab - 1. Glad to be of service.
2. It is nice. The meth lab next door hardly smells.
3. The Lowe's deliverymen.
4. They are time machines! Ssshhhh, don't tell!

Just a Girl - Go to Lowe's and fondle an appliance. You'll feel better!

Avitable - Glad you enjoyed it!

Britt - These guys are like my new best friends! I love doing laundry! I'm like friggin' Donna Reed!

Gypsy - Pretty is as is pretty does!

Military Mom - Bring it down here and we'll take care of it with extreme prejudice!

1. I played that video at least 5 times. The first was spent cracking up at you. The rest were spent cracking up at my ghetto-fab child, dancing away to the music. Thank you for the realization of endless amusement.

2. Is it wrong to be turned on by appliances? ;-)

3. You better watch it, or we may just show up one day, wanting to do laundry.

Ha! LOVE every bit of the smashing the old kissing on the pretty new!! If appliance envy is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

You should have told me you had some bustin' up to do so I could bring you my pickaxe. Remember its many creative uses? Every girl should have one. :-)

I MISSED READING YOUR BLOGGGGG!!!

I laughed my ass off at the video and the little groovy music going on while you sledged it in slo-mo!

As for asking for appliances for Christmas/birthday/whatever - I do it, too! Got a Dyson vacuum that way, and a nice new fridge, too. Next are the washer and dryer. I have to show this vlog to my hubby to give him the hint.

:-)

Peace out - D

1) LOVE the RED washer/dryer. I might actually enjoy doing laundry if mine were that perdy.
2) Jealous that you are wearing a t-shirt and there is NO SNOW in your video. I was wrapped up in 3 layers yesterday and my bones were cold. I need to get the f out of NH.
3) Might need to borrow that sledgehammer. My husband gave me the promise of a working garage door for Valentines Day. So romantic, I know, but I'm very excited because mine only opens when it's in the mood, only about 50% of the time. I've already taken a little hammer to the remote.

Jenn - Get on over here, girl, and bring those undies!

Momma - Hope he gets the hint! Use the sledge hammer if he doesn't!

MommyCosm - 1) I couldn't believe that I could enjoy doing laundry, but I do!
2) True, it was nice that day, but I would like a little nip in air because Georgia summers are so horrible!
3) I'll send the sledge hammer to NH posthaste!
