This Whole Blogging Thing

OK, I just don't get it.

There are some who make a point of blogging every day for the entire month of November.

Then there are those who want to blog every day for the entire year.

And finally, there are some who bitch about having to blog in the first place.

OMG! Could we just shut up already and blog and not worry about the when or the where?

Who cares if you do or don't blog each and every day?

And if you bitch about blogging and talk about starting a movement where no one blogs for a week? Then why the heck do you even blog at all?

Just blog... whenever.

Blog when you're inspired.
Blog when you're happy.
Blog when you're pissed.
Blog when you have a point to make.
Blog when you have no point.
Blog when all else fails you.
Or don't

Just blog it.

And if you don't feel like blogging? Then, don't. And don't announce it! By announcing that you're not blogging, you're in fact blogging and defeating the purpose of your I'm not gonna blog! message. Don't force yourself to do something you're not inspired to do. Tired? Don't blog. Rather spend time with the kids? Don't blog. More interested in watching a Ghost Hunters marathon? Don't blog. Sundays are your day to read and scratch yourself? Don't friggin' blog! And there's no need to announce to world that you've got an attitude about it and want to start a movement to get other bloggers to stop blogging!

GAH!

It's your place on the web to do with as you please and whether you blog or not, I'll be there to read you when you're inspired and patiently wait when you're not.

OK, off the soapbox now. Stepping down, dusting off, getting ready to wash the dishes.

I blog every day... but not because anybody else is pressuring me to do so. I do it for myself. I know that if I start skipping days, it's only a matter of time before I stop all together. You're absolutely right... It's a personal choice, as well it should be.

Wow, I looked at the blog you referenced. Geez. Maybe she wants people to take a week off of blogging to sit and read hers?

Like you, I think that blogging, like any kind of writing, should be something you are moved to do. Write for change. Write as therapy. Write to say hello to your faithful readers who want to know the latest snot-isms. ;-)

Perhaps those who want a blogging moratorium should just walk away. Would we miss them? Nature abhors a vacuum. Someone will fill in.

Peace - D

I blog every day because I like a routine and a pattern, and otherwise I'll feel like I'm not doing it "right".

Ever notice that when you say (or write) something enough times it becomes gibberish? Blog, blog, blog, blog, blog, blog, blog. It's like alien language.

I agree with both Dave2 and Avitable *shudder*. I think I have blogged ever day for a year and half.

It's my duty to entertain America!

Who IS that Queen of Shake Shake, anyhow? What's it to her if people blog every day, or not, or what if, OMG, they decide to post more than once in the same day! I just enjoy reading other blogs when they post, and I post if and when I'm in the mood! :)

Are Sundays your scratching days too? You're so wise! That's why I need to stop by here regularly. I couldn't possibly do it every day.

omg...I seriously hate you for this one.

I clicked over to the Shake Shake place...I got sucked in reading that blog for.e.v.e.r.

I hate to say it, but I kind of really liked her blog...not the "Woe is me I hate to blog" post cause that seems kind of ridiculous, but seriously the other stuff is really entertaining.

I'm all about the inspiration...If I don't find something worth writing about, I try not to bore anyone...if it takes 3 weeks for me to get something interesting then so be it.

I try to stay committed to blogging every weekday because I look at blogging as a way to practice my writing. Sometimes I don't have great content, but since my original intent for my blog is personal and not for the sake of entertaining others, I have no problem with that. Entertaining others is just a side-effect, albeit a good one. :)

(I took part in NaBloPoMo as a challenge, though, just to see if I could make myself write every day. Turns out I prefer not to write on the weekends...)

Do you ever find yourself stalking other people named Heather? Just curious... :)

Dave2 - And that's cool, man. Blog because you feel like it, not because you have to.

Momma - Snot-isms. Heh! :-)

Avitable - And that is why I pink puffy heart you!

Gypsy - Yeah, the word "blog" and the word "snot" (my fave!) are both that way!

Fab - And entertained I am, sweetie!

B - You said it, girlfriend!

NATUI - Which is why I love you, hon!

OK, Where Was I? - Sundays and sometimes Tuesday evenings. I'm trying to figure out how I can video blog about it, too. :-)

Just A Girl - Sorry. You know, I like her most of the time too. Just this "bitching about blogging" phase she's going through is enough to drive me nuts!

Andrea - Nope. No stalking here. We Heathers seem to be attracted to each other. It's like the Force is pulling us together! :-)

Yep, I like ``blog when you're inspired''. Works for me!!

I'm so glad you liked the ``necks top model'' quip!!

What is this blogging thing you speak of?

David - You are, like, the quip master! Sensei!

Teri - Beats the hell out of me. I don't get this blogging crap, either!
