Northwest Metro Atlanta's Foremost Expert on the Tudor Dynasty

Yeah, I know. The above title is kind of lame. There are probably at least two other women in the neighborhood who have read every Tudor-related biography or historical piece of fiction out there that I have read, plus one more, and that would make me less-than-expert.

But.

I know my stuff. And every now and then, the intelligence of American television surprises me. Like this Snickers commercial connecting Henry VIII and the song Greensleeves, which he wrote, and making it funny. Enjoy!

I'm more interested in knowing why the hell you know how many Tudor-related novels your neighbors have written.

Wow, I did not know that Big Henry wrote that song! I haven't ever been a scholar of Tudor history until the Philippa Gregory books. Now I'm hooked.

What did you think of "The Constant Princess"? Worth the read? What about some of the other books out there - send me recommendations!

Meanwhile, I think it's fascinating that the song Greensleeves has lasted this long, connecting us back to Tudor roots. Very cool. And thanks for the funny commercial!

Peace - D

Your geekiness makes me entirely happy.

And I loved that commercial the first second I saw it. :)

I'm super impressed. I wouldn't know a Tudor anything if it bit me in the ass. That commercial is too funny. What were they smoking when they came up with that one?

The only thing between you and me is That Chick and she rocks.

We're like neighbors.

I am so happy to know that there are other geeky girls like me out there who "got" the joke. I was the only one in the room laughing when I first saw the commercial and didn't want to demonstrate my geekiness but explaining.
I love that commercial and make everyone shut up when it comes on.
Your friend - a fellow Tudor fan

O.K. I am now going to further demonstrat my geekiness. I did a bit of web searching and discovered Henry VIII did not write Greensleeves, although it's commonly believed.
I will still always link them in my mind, though ... and think of that commercial and you also!
Cheers!

Lori - Dude, now I'm sad. Thinking he wrote it made me happy.

We need to call the producers and writers of The Tudors. They got it wrong, too!
