I Had a Dream...

So, if you think this is a bit of eloquent blogging about my respect for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his vision of a future, colorless America...

... you're wrong.

This is about me and my screwed-up head.

Wednesday night was a date night for me and the Ty-man. We started off with dinner at the Right Wing Tavern, a political-themed restaurant. I had "The Byrd" (Sen. Robert Byrd - you da man - and your feta/sundried tomato stuffed chicken breast ain't too shabby, either!) and I accompanied said dish with a Cosmo. Now, let me tell you, I'm not a drinker. Not that I'm a teetotaler or anything, but I just don't drink. I don't like the way I feel when I'm drunk and alcohol does bad things to my insulin levels. So drinking for me is a special, regulated treat. Well, as you can imagine, I was tipsy after two sips. Sheesh.

The evening progressed with coffee, books, and home to bed. Then, the dreaming began.

You know how you get zits, really large, hard, painful zits, at the edge of your jawbone?

Really? You don't get those? It's just me?

Go away.

Those of you who know what I'm talking about... I dreamt I had one of those huge, nasty zits. So, there I am complaining about this gigantic, painful zit and my mom offers to pop it. You know how you sometimes get zits that when you pop them, the goo comes out in a long, thin corkscrew?

No?

F off. Seriously.

So, that corkscrew zit? Well, that's what this was. Except instead of puss it was a snake. Like a fully-formed blackish-gray snake. There I am, completely horrified, holding my jaw with a gaping hole, staring at this snake that has just popped out of my zit.

And the weird thing? My jawbone actually hurt. I woke up, clutching my face because it was sore. And for the rest of the night? I would wake up and rub my jaw. And all of yesterday? I would check that part of my jawbone, expecting to feel a giant zit.

No more Cosmos for me!

Um, yes, I get pimples like that.
And, I'm slightly embarassed that I know about the whole cork-screw thing; but, hey, I'm not the one who posted about it.
Yep, alchohol and me are not friends, either.

And, FYI: snakes in dreams mean Kundalini power; life force, creative energy, healing power withing. They represent the awakening or continuance of spiritual growth - apparently since it was your jaw it's probably with communication . .. so my dream book says.
(sorry if I took the impact out of your post; happy if it made you feel better)

I totally didn't get this post. I've never once had a pimple. Never. Not anywhere.

OMG - I never know what you're going to blog about!

My husband had a dream just like that when he was a teenager and he never forgot it. Only difference is that his zit was in his "third eye," so I'm sure there's something prophetic about that.

No drinkies for you anymore! But it's okay, because I'm in the same boat. I have to not take certain meds if I want one big cold glass of microbrew.

Peace - D

I dreamt something very similar but it was a zit on my sisters face and baby spiders came out, not snakes.

Ok so maybe it wasn't similar.

I looked up pimples and snakes on a dream interpreter and this is what it says. Hmm?

Pimples
To dream that you have pimples, relates to issues about your self-esteem and self-image. You are feeling awkward or out of place in some situation or relationship.
To dream that you are popping your pimples, indicates that negative emotions about need to be expressed and acknowledge. Those emotions that you are holding back are on the verge of erupting.

Snake
To see a snake or be bitten by one in your dream, signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. The snake may also be seen as phallic and thus symbolize dangerous and forbidden sexuality. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes.

Err... I don't really know what to comment cuz you told me to go away (which I incidentally think is total discrimination, I can't help it I don't get zits like that!) even before the story really got off to a start.. so ehm... I'll just say "Happy Friday!"

WTF?! 2 nights ago I had the same dream about a snake coming out of a zit on my foot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shit you not. My creepy snake was yellow though...ewww.

AND, I've had quite the stressful week, so I have one of those huge jawline zits right now...just in time to go to SC for my dad's wedding this weekend. I'll be looking good for those family pictures...joy.

And, thanks to Linda I have a bit of a clue into the why of my dream. Makes perfect sense to me.
