A Den of Snakes

Warning - If you hate snakes. As in don't want to touch them, don't want to talk about them, don't even want to look at pictures of them, then please mark this post as read and move along. I don't want to cause any heart attacks. Seriously.

Now that that's taken care of. Ahem.

I love snakes. I think they're beautiful animals and would own one if I could, but it's grounds for divorce with the Ty-man if I even think of bringing one home. Lucky for me, fellow ghost hunters Brett and Stef own three ball pythons.

Since we all know that politicians are all just a bunch of snakes, what better way to watch the vice-presidential debate than with my three newest best friends: Herbie Hancock,

Lucifer,

and Her Royal Highness, Cruella,

Do I know how to celebrate our most fundamental democratic process, or what?

Lovely necklace!
Do the children share you fondness for the reptiles?

I found a handful of eggs under a rock when I was about 10 years old. I didn't know what kind of eggs they were, but I was determined to find out.

I took them home and put them in an empty aquarium. After about a week or so, they hatched. And they were snakes. Imparticularly, this type of snake...

My Grandma was the first to notice that they had hatched. Her horrific screams echoing down the hallway filled the rest of the family on in what had hatched.

Ty's afraid of snakes?

Bucky, before I clicked that link, I thought they were going to be rattlers or copperheads or something!

I like snakes. I, too, would've been thrilled to hold a snake during the debate. Had I access to a snake. Or watched the debates. (Political debates drive me NUTS. I read about 'em after.)

I don't particularly like when snakes surprise me in the yard.

My mom HATES snakes with a passion. I've seen her wield a garden hoe with deadly force. Her attack was scarier than the snake she hacked up. (I know that's gross, but I was probably 6 at the time and I still remember it. Vividly.)

I don't mind snakes...not that I love them or anything, but I can let them live if I see one in my yard. Spiders, on the other hand, almost paralyze me with fear. So just don't post anything where I have to look at pictures of spiders. :)

Sorry, not a big fan of snakes...unless maybe they're made into boots.

Hubbie is a scardy little bitch when it comes to snakes. I love them and have no issue. Live and let live, ya know. We got a behind the scenes tour of the snake house at Zoo Atlanta and I thought Hubbie was going to shit himself. Especially when one of them struck at me through the top of the cage because I was too close. Good times.

Other Heather - I don't know. They haven't had any experience. There's a reptile show next month I may have to take them to.

Bucky - Oh, that is awesome. I wish I could have been there to see that! :)

Avitable - Yep. Hates them. With a passion. Democrats, too. :)

Tuli - Now, we have copperheads in the woods behind our house? Those? Will get dispatched quickly because of the kids. Otherwise, snakes are cool.

Molly's Mom - Oh, I'm so with you on spiders.

Employee No. 3699 - HA! Or purses. :)

NATUI - That's just too funny. Maybe our kids will grow up to be reptile specialists and freak their daddies out with snakes in the house. :)

I used to keep snakes that I caught growing up in Florida, but my partner would be much like your husband if I brought one home!

Isn't it funny how we end up with peopl who simply don't share some of our passions? My OH has grown more accepting of insects and spiders since being married to me, but he'd still far rather not see another one as long as he lives!

I like your snakes! One of my favourite memories of our holiday in Florida is of getting to hold part of an albino python. He was beautiful! I felt kind of sorry for him to be handled so regularly by visitors, but maybe he didn't mind.

The little ring neck snakes are pretty!

MetalMom - Aren't they, though?

A Free Man - That is just too cool that you had them as pets.

Jay - I know. It is interesting that we end up sometimes with our opposites! :)
