Dialog, Part 21

J-man: Where go-going?

Me: We're going to Bubba's and Miss-Miss's school to pick them up!

J-man: 'Kay!

2 minutes later...

J-man: Where go-going?

Me: Remember, sweetie? I said we're going to go get Bubba and Miss-Miss from school!

J-man: 'Kay!

1 minute later...

J-man: Where go-going?

Me: Slightly exasperated. To pick up Bubba and Miss-Miss!

J-man: 'Kay!

30 seconds later...

J-man: Where go...

Me: TO GET YOUR BROTHER AND SISTER!!!! GAH! Pant, pant, pant.

J-man:
'Kay!

2 minutes later...

J-man: Where go-going?

Me: Muttering. To Crazy Town, m'dear. Where Mama is going to turn in her Sanity Card.

J-man: WHERE GOING?!?

I used to hate those conversations. They always came up when I was tired, busy or just plain frazzled.

Now my boys come home from work, eat shower and run out while I'm the one asking "Where going?"

If I could only turn back the clock!...

This is so my life right now. Every day, every subject. Can't wait for the hour-long drive to Big City this afternoon. Let me know your number in Crazy Town, I moved in last year.

Honey, this is when you say "Baby let's sing a song while we are driving," and you launch into some whacked out version of "Wheels on the Bus" or if you are me "Hit the Road Jack" or "What's New Pussycat" at the top of your lungs. Even if he doesn't sing, at least you don't hear him! ;-)

How about asking him...see how HE likes it:

"We're going to get Bubba and Miss-Miss. Hey J-man: Where are we going?"

Ha. So there!

Heather's drown-him-out-with-singing is a better idea, probably.

My son still does this sometimes. Drives me NUTS!

I've tried to turn the table on him. I've tried to drown him out. I caved and started letting him watch a DVD in the car, even for short trips...seems to keep him distracted enough to not ask me the same question over and over and OVER.
