Choppin' Broccoli

Yesterday, Avitable's vlog post had a song attached at the end that brought back some serious drunken college memories. Drunken college memories that include me attempting to imitate Dana Carvey's comedic genius of Choppin' Broccoli. Damn, that man was funny. So, here's the closest video I could find with Dana Carvey singing said song. Couldn't find the original SNL clip, just something from his stand-up routine. It's a bit long, but worth it. Enjoy!

Oh, and? Want to see me sing Choppin' Broccoli? Come to my house, get me sloshed on margaritas, and I'll think about. Might seal the deal if you throw in some Oreos. 'Kay?

And here, all this time, I had thought I was the only one that enjoyed margaritas and oreos.

Not only do I have "Choppin' Broccoli" stuck in my head, I now have to admit that when I am in the kitchen helping my hubby make dinner and I am assigned the task of (you guessed it) cutting up the broccoli ... I sing the song in my head. Automatically. Out loud if I've had a glass of wine, or a beer, or a margarita, etc ...
Want to guess what was in my head, or spouting out my mouth when I still worked in an office and would head to the Xerox machine?

And Jayna - I totally loved your frozen mint Oreo story. I shared it at a kid's b-day party today and 3 people admitted they were going to buy some this very afternoon - and sticking them in the freezer.

You two ladies absolutely rock ... and you make my 2:20 a.m insomnia so much more bearable.

xoxo - Lori

I LOVED "choppin' broccoli." That was high comedy. Carvey had some good stuff. Then I thought of "Toonces the driving cat" and laughed again.

Thanks for the chuckles...

Nothing better than a little Dana Carvey! I loved that skit, thanks for bringin back the memories. Of course, now I'm gonna drive my hubby nuts by having it stuck inmyhead all day and singing it. And that will get it stuck in his and the kids head...I'm on to your evil little plan! Stinker!

Choppin' Broccoli was my ringtone for many years. I love his comedy routine even more than the SNL skit, I think.z

I must be the only one in the entire Western world who had never heard that. Dear God, does he have musicians pegged or WHAT? Buncha posers!

Love it - and next time I'm in Atlanta? The margaritas are on me...Peace - D

OMG-you can get "Choppin' Broccoli" as a ringtone?! Where??
An ode to more great SNL moments: remember Dana Carvey's 'Grumpy Old Man' and Jon Lovitz as Annoying Man? A-W-E-S-O-M-E.
