Big Joe's Polka Show

A few years back, we were hanging with friends and the subject of TV channels came up. They, like us, subscribed to DirecTV.

Them: You guys heard of that farm channel?
Us: Wha? Farm channel? What the hell?
Them: Yeah. It's like channel 379. It's awesome! Trains and state fairs and polka!

After that? I was hooked. When nothing else is on? Off I go to channel 379, RFD TV:

A 24-hour network with educational and informational programming targeting rural America. RFD TV focuses on rural news, events, and convention coverage, agricultural information and family-oriented programming.

I'll admit, it's pretty boring at times. But every now and then, you catch the gem known as The Big Joe Polka Show. I think after watching this clip (rather long - just warning you), you'll agree with me and head right over to upgrade your channel selections. 'Cause if you're not watching it? Then you're not one of the cool kids. Dude.

Have you seen the dude on there with the handlebar mustache and ten gallon hat that cooks everything over a campfire? I think it is Cowboy Cooking or something like that. OH LAWDY, it's a HOOT!!! He looks like that and takes himself so seriously.
Sometimes late at night, I have caught the old Ralph Emery show from the 70's, but can't bring myself to watch the polka. Seriously my grandparents were hooked on Lawrence Welk and I heard enough polka to last me for the rest of my life. I shudder at the thought.

Never seen The Big Joe Polka show, regrettably. But your post reminded me of this radio program that they used to play down South called "Leonard's Losers". Man I loved that show.

The DirecTV service in our area actually sucks worse than the cable service in our area. And that's pretty freaking bad. So I am completely uncool by having cable.

I have DirecTV, but I have never paid any attention to what is on that channel.

I'm too scared that I might see my own family on there.

No DirecTV here. I'm not one of the cool kids.

I'm addicted to the new Green channel on cable.

OMG! My Dad is HOOKED on RFD TV. I don't know if he watches the polka show or not - I'll try to find out.

As for me, I am not one of the cool kids. I don't have satellite, nor do I have cable. I have an antenna on my roof that gets me the major networks out of Detroit (and one Canadian station out of Windsor. LOVES me some CBC!)

TeeHee :-)

When I saw the hammered dulcimer being played, I knew it was my duty to tell you about RFD TV. (Now in HD!?!?! http://www.rfdtv.com/HD.asp)

Oh, and The Big Joe Polka Show rocks! (or polkas?)

Bwahhahaha! Seems like every time I go to my mom and dad's, my dad has this channel on "his" TV! Only he watches the auctions and crap too. He even said Molly was watching some crazy music show with him one day and loved it.

My dad is FINALLY one of the cool kids ;)

Molly's Mom - That is so friggin' awesome!

Other Heather - Now Dish Network people are cool kids, too!
