Beware the Ides of March!

I originally wasn't going to post today. Sleepy Saturday, kids watching a Little Bear marathon, me and the Ty-man doing the whole bacon-eggs-coffee coma thing. But, then I realized what day it was - holy crap! It's one of my favorite dates on the calendar! March 15th, the day Julius Caesar was assassinated by his fellow Roman senators. This? Is a bad calendar day.

So, here I am, on the 2,052nd anniversary of the death of Julius Caesar, contemplating this traditional day of general badness. See, ever since Caesar's death, the Ides of March has become a date synonymous with doom, gloom, and just generally - bad shit happening to you. Friday the 13th? Fuget about it! The supposed apocalypse on December 21, 2012? Whatev. Nothing's going to happen. Today? Well, that's another matter.

So on this Ides of March, 2008, I'll be staying indoors, camped out on the couch, blanket over my head, taking my meals under said blanket, while listening to the news and waiting for the end of the world. Or, at least, waiting for the end of another episode of Little Bear. God, it's going to be a loooooong day.

UPDATE! Yes, we've just spent an hour in the basement, waiting for the tornadoes to pass us by. Two touched down in our county, but all is well here at Casa CMG and the danger has passed. The Ides of March did not disappoint!

UH, OH. Totally forgot the date. Not good.

We're going to be driving around in the snow to run a bunch of errands. Hope the Ides of March doesn't bite us in the ass!

LOL! I make it a point to do something fun on the Ides of March. Today we are going to go outside and blow bubbles with the new bubble stuff I bought that is supposed to be uber-super-cool.

I thought about you all last night and said a quick prayer for your safety. We were watching the SEC tournament and saw the tornado coverage.

MommyCosm - Yeah, it always seem to slip up on me, too.

Avitable - Thanks, hon!

Andrea - You know? That's why I love you, hon. You know what the ides are and you "celebrate" them!

Other Heather - Thanks for the thoughts, hon. We're OK!

This right here...This is why I kick myself for not being more studious.

I haven't a clue about the Ides of March other than that's what today is called.

But I'm quite skilled in Pop Culture. Does that count? ;)

Good God woman! I just saw all that on the news and was hoping you were okay! I HATE tornadoes! Scary, scary stuff.

Glad you're alright! Peace - D

I was wondering about you guys, but I talked to my Mother in Cumming, and she assured me your area was unscathed. Thank God! Don't know what I would do if you weren't around!

Just A Girl - I'm not studious, hon, I'm just a font of useless information. And yes, Pop Culture does count!

Momma - Thanks, hon! It is scary stuff, even more so that we have kids. I worry about them.

Military Mom - Yeah, I called my friends in Cumming and in Canton to make sure they were all OK. Many phone calls and e-mails today! Oh, and? You're so sweet! :-)

Dude, this is why you are my twin. I thought I was the only one to 'celebrate' the Ides of March.

I should have known better.

Lancelot refused a catering gig on the ides. Just wasn't worth it.

Functionally Retodded - Yeah. I'm glad too.

Britt - Thanks for checking in!

NATUI - As long as I don't have to claim the MIL from Hell, twins it is! :-)

Gypsy - Good for him!
