Scumbag!

Three weeks ago, I was commiserating with Rob, my scuba diving mentor and my kids' swim teacher.

Rob: Jim (fellow scuba buddy and co-owner of Atlanta Scuba & Swim Centers) is in the Caymans.

Rob and Me, simultaneously: Scumbag.

Me: When does he get back?

Rob: Sunday.

Me: Total scumbag.

Rob: Yep.

Doesn't matter if I had been scheduled to fly to the Great Barrier Reef the day after the above conversation, Jim was still a scumbag and I, of course, would have shared the title the next day. The week before, nextdoorneighbor Jodi's teen son was diving in the Keys. Yep. Scumbag.

Where am I going with this? I'll tell you. Even though this has nothing to do with scuba diving and even though I chose not to attend BlogHer and instead decided to thumb my nose at the whole thing from the comfort of my suburban-Atlanta home? You're all scumbags. (You, too!)

In a loving, caring sort of way, of course! HEY! It's tradition!

And when I go scuba diving in CuraƧao in October, you may all scream SCUMBAG! in my Inbox. Pinky-swear.

Do you really want to hurt me? Do you really want to make me cry?

I figured after you stood on the way-high-in-the-air glass floor in Chicago, you'd want to go out on that observation deck on the Empire State Building with me. No? Last time I was up there was February 2004, a few hours after I'd spent 2 days taking the GA Bar. Much alcohol followed. I guess the mulligan will be Heather-free. :-(

I'm not going either. Wish I could, though.

Are you going to Lexington in 3 weeks, though?!!

I'm not going there. I don't even have a desire to ever go there. I'd rather go somewhere more intimate than Blogher. By "intimate", I don't mean in the sexual way, but in the way that you would actually be able to spend time talking to people you want to see. Someplace like Sybil is suggesting. Although, I won't be able to make it there.

Scumbagette here. Guess I'll be your proxy for the Muskrat Empire State Building Experience. We shall think of you fondly. ;p And miss you lots.

I'll be tweeting your scumbagginess in October as well.

Muskrat - I was hoping to do a "Funky Cold Medina" duet with you, but I'm thinking we just need to hit a local Atlanta karaoke bar. I know you'll miss me. Don't cry too hard.

LceeL - You know? If you were going this year? I think I would change my mind and head to the Big Apple. Just sayin'. :)

Sybil Law - HELL YES! TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!

Shelli - Honestly, I enjoyed Brad's and Liz's party and Adam's Halloween parties so much more than BlogHer. I'm not claustrophobic, but I do hate large crowds of people. I feel closed-in and suffocated in those situations and a couple of times, at BlogHer, I had those panic moments. That and some women just can't help but be ugly and petty. I'll wait until BlogHer eventually comes to Atlanta then open up my home as a boarding house. You? Will have to come. :)

Halalamama - Great minds, my dear!

Kimberly - I will miss you, too.

Patois - I would expect nothing less.

Okay, a week ago, I'd be on the Scumbag bandwagon. I have been since I started blogging 3 years ago.

But, crap. I just became a scumbag myself...found a ticket someone needed to sell. Took the leap and bought it. First time I get to meet bloggers in person and you're not even going to be there?! Bummer.

If you change your mind at the last minute, I have a room at the Hilton and will smuggle you in to parties;)

What about those of us who are going to the Toga Party? Are you scumbags with us?

1) I am SORELY disappointed that you won't be at BlogHer. 2)I'm ECSTATIC that you linked the word "scumbag" to my blog.

You will be missed. :-(
